I came across this old house on another one of my adventures through the California desert in Joshua Tree National Park. Desert Queen Mine like many mines of the California Gold Rush was tumultuous and defined by turf wars due to the rush of many people and finite number of resources. Frank James was the original founder of the mine opening it up for production in 1894. Little did he know he would only end up running it for a short time. A local Gangster named Jim Mchaney caught wind of the profitability of the mine and send two of his bandits to take over the mine and kill Frank but not before signing over the deed to the mine. Mchaney believing he's in the clear began borrowing money he didn't have to expand the mine and hopefully get rich. While his fortune was strong but short lived he eventually became indebted to the wrong people and lost a man named William Keys who ran it until it was closed in the 1960's. The house in my photo is assumed to be built by the founder of the mine and have been lived in by everyone who subsequently owned it. "Franks House"

Materials

Matt Board- We use acid-free mat board to separate your print from the moulding and acrylic.

Foam Core- We mount your print on acid-free foam core backing which keeps the work smooth and supported.

Acrylic- We use acrylic as glazing for your art. Although acrylic is more expensive than glass, we use it because it offers superior UV protection, shipping durability, is lightweight and beautifully clear.

Hanging hardware- We include hanging hardware that's appropriate for the size of your finished art on the back of each frame. Depending on how large your finished piece is, we'll use sawtooth hangers, hanging wire, or corner brackets.

Don't worry, we'll also send the corresponding nails and hooks to get your piece on the wall-all you'll need is a hammer.

Printer and ink- We print on Premium Lustre or Enhanced Matte paper using archival inks.

Moulding- Our frame mouldings are made of solid wood with premium finishes like hand-leafing, veneer, and gesso. We custom cut and join each piece of moulding to fit your art so each frame is truly one of a kind.
